Community Integration Counseling (CIC)
Community Integration Counseling focuses on the emotional effects of brain injury. The loss of physical and processing abilities can affect a person’s emotional well-being. The sense of loss, anger or frustration that is commonly experienced among survivors can inhibit the recovery process. This time-limited service is focused on assisting people to effectively manage the emotional difficulties associated with adjusting to life with a brain injury.
Community Integration Counseling is intended to assist people with revising expectations, coping with their altered abilities, and with addressing changes in roles and the impact of these changes on their relationships and family members. Our qualified counselors empower people with brain injuries by identifying constructive ways for them to handle their emotional response in addressing issues such as grief or family dynamics. CIC services are primarily provided in one-to-one sessions. The counselor also works with a person’s other service providers to maximize the entire recovery process.
