Residential
Everyone deserves the opportunity to live as independently as they are able to and to have a place they call home.
A home is place where one feels a sense of belonging. Home is a cheerful and safe place, where memories are made. A home is where you are surrounded by loving care and where you are accepted for who you are. A home is where you dream, grow and experience a full life. These are the beliefs that guide EPI residential services.
Housing Options
EPI has 12 residential housing options in Monroe, Wayne and Broome Counties. Our sites include suburban houses and apartments, and offer a range of support services, based on each person’s needs. We offer both types of OPWDD-certified Individual Residential Alternatives (IRA): Supervised IRAs, small group homes, which provide 24-hour, 7-days a week support staff; and Supportive IRAs for people who are more independent and require fewer support services for their daily living.
Supportive Staff And Clinical Care
Our caring residential staff includes Direct Support Professionals, Medical Liaisons, Behavioral Therapists, House Managers and Residential Supervisors. All our staff members are trained in CPR, first aid and medication administration. Our sites also offer specialized nursing support. Our Registered Nurses provide clinical care and oversight at each home promoting health, wellness and safety for all our residents, including those with complex medical needs. An EPI nurse is on call 24-hours a day in case of a medical emergency.
Fostering Choice And Independence
We offer an environment that fosters self-expression, personal responsibility, and independence. Our houses reflect the unique individuals who live in them. At EPI, every resident has his or her own bedroom and is able to decorate it according to their personal style. Larger house decisions, including the hiring of new staff, are made with the input of our residents and their family and circle of support.
We encourage our residents to do as much for themselves as possible, while our caring staff is there to support them whenever the need arises. Based on each person’s needs and goals, our support services include help with cooking, cleaning, personal care, managing money, or shopping. We also assist with transportation, scheduling appointments, and in taking an active role in one’s health.
Community
We encourage our residents to be active members of our communities while tailoring our services to meet the interests and preferences of each person.
From fishing trips, to hikes in the beautiful parks of Upstate New York, to visits museums, baseball games and demolition derbies, our outings and activities are as unique as the individuals we serve!
Eligibility
Our residential services are offered through the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD).
