Where were you born and raised?
Born and raised in Henrietta, NY

What was your introduction to cooking/baking?

I’ve been baking sense I was a child, but I really got into artistic endeavors in my early 30’s as a stay at home mom. In 2014, after many friends and family convinced me to start making cakes because I was already creating fairy art, wedding card boxes and performing wedding ceremonies as a minister. I took the plunge into cake art and Ive loved
every moment of it ever sense. Cake art is absolutely my favorite art form. By the end its this amazing piece of art that everyone admires and is in awe of…Then it gets eaten and devoured and poof its gone.. out of this world it goes.

Where and how did you train? (Culinary school, internships, self-taught, family member, etc.)
I am actually self taught. All of my cake skills, recipes and techniques came from watching endless hours of you-tube videos. My kids favorite thing to watch with me as they are laying down is piping videos. They love it. Customers teach me as well they give me ideas that I otherwise would have never known about.

Have you always been a chef? If yes, describe your career path. If no, what else have you done?

I have never been a chef, Im an artist that loves cake art as my main expression of art that I am creating at the moment. Im a small business owner as of 2010, when I became a Minister and High Priestess and opened a sister school where I taught metaphysical anthropology after studying for 13 years. I’m still currently teaching, and I have art at the We Shop in Lima as well as an extensive crystal display there. I sell crystals primarily and hanging fairy art. My last career jump in 2013 was as a store manager of Teavana in East View Mall. I Loved my job because what I sold could help heal people and I thrived in that environment. I had to give up my career to up to care for my 1st baby 24/7 and Ive been working for myself ever since.

If you own your own business(s), when did you open and what inspired you to go out on your own??
I opened my own business in 2010 after becoming a high priestess and minister which prompted me to start teaching metaphysical anthropology. Currently I sell crystals and cakes.

Where do your recipes come from (i.e., secret family recipes, trial and error, someone else’s inspiration)?
Alot of my best creations come from my customers requests… Its the easiest way for me to learn and try

Is there a chef you admire the most? Who and why?

I would say my boyfriend Brian because he’s always watching, researching and learning new ways to cook. He has the drive to create dishes where as I have the drive to create art with what is edible.

When you’re “off the clock” do you like preparing meals for friends and family or do you prefer someone else to do it?
Yes I enjoy cooking for my family….I do it numerous times a week.

You have a day to eat anything you want. What will your menu look like?
Prime rib, Chessy bacon fries, lobster, and cheese cake with cherry jam

What is your favorite thing to bake?
Brownies are my absolute favorite thing to bake.

What are your best and worst skills? List a baking/decorating skill you have mastered and one that, no matter how hard you try, you just haven’t been able to get the hang of.

Macaroons, I have tried so many times to make and no matter what i do I’ve only been able to get right once or twice. What I’m good at would be fondont work.

Is there a handy baking utensil that you absolutely can’t do without?

I would say my metal flat edge 9″ scraper for coating cakes.

Besides baking, what are your other hobbies?

‘m an artist more than a baker. I love creating art. Anything I can make, re-do or create with my hands I will. If theres something I do not know how to do, I will figure out how and teach myself.

Please inlcude any other things you’d like to share.

I really wanted to do this cake gala because of the theme. I’ve never heard of this event before receiving the flyer. I’m excited to learn and experience new opportunities and see the talent others have to offer. This theme is exciting because I teach metaphysical anthropology and subjects like Numerology, Astrology and Natal Charts. The stars and the Zodiac are so intriguing to me.
