One in 26 Walk

Did You Know?
One in 26 people will develop epilepsy in their lifetime. It’s a powerful statistic that highlights how common this condition is. Despite its prevalence, epilepsy remains misunderstood, and harmful social stigmas persist.

How it Began…
This effort has roots in the pandemic when we wanted to create a way for people to stay connected. We challenged participants to come together virtually and walk 20 miles in 20 days. The response was incredibly positive and an event was born!

2021 – 2025
Since 2020, every October, we have hosted the One in 26 Walk to raise awareness and support for those impacted by epilepsy. It’s not just about fundraising—it’s about coming together as a community to show solidarity, spread knowledge, and break down barriers.

Thank You Sponsors!
Over the years, several generous sponsors have contributed to help make this event possible. As a special thank you, we’d like to acknowledge the Hamilton Family & Integrated Systems for serving as our Presenting Sponsor for the last several years. Their support and contributions have helped grow this event each year and we are grateful!

Our Volunteers Make it Happen!
Our tireless volunteer crew is the backbone of all our events. Each year, they have come out to One in 26 events in both Rochester and Syracuse, arriving early to help set up, welcoming guests throughout the day, and staying late to help us pack up. We couldn’t do what we do without this dedicated group of people.
Please contact Jill Johnson at jejohnson@epiny.org if you are interested in volunteering at EPI events.
