Please:
- REVIEW: Review the lists for your assignment(s). Note: There are three pages, one for Set Up, one for Working the Event, and one for Clean Up.
- TIMING: Please doublecheck call times and departure times to make sure your assignment(s) still works with your schedule.
- CANCELLATION: If you are unable to volunteer for this event, please contact Jill Johnson as soon as possible at jejohnson@epiny.org or (310) 995-6810. Calls or texts are both fine.
- INSTRUCTIONS: Instructions for each assignment will be available on the day of the event.

As long as there is no thunder or lightning, this event will run rain or shine. We are keeping an eye on the weather and will keep you updated via email as well as information on this page.

Event Information
Sunday, August 2, 2026
Mendon Ponds Park (Intersection of Douglas Rd. & Canfield Rd.)
Check-In & Registration: 8:00 am
10K & 5K Start: 9:00 am (timed)
One-Mile Start: 9:30 am (not timed)
Volunteer Activities
Volunteers help with a variety of activities including set-up, check-in and onsite registration, trail marshals, water stations, parking assistance, t-shirt distribution, one-mile course flagging and guiding, and clean up.
Specific responsibilities will be assigned on the day of the race. Please visit the online volunteer sign-up at EPI’s Sign Up Genius page to register for the timeframe that best fits your schedule.
Volunteer Shifts
All Day: 6:00 am – 12:00 pm
Volunteers help set up the main tent and other stations, work the event, and help clean up at the conclusion of the event.
Set-Up Only: 6:00 am – 8:30 am
Volunteers help with set up only and are free to leave once that is completed.
Work the Event Only: 7:00 am – 10:00 am
Volunteers arrive early enough for a briefing about responsibilities, are assigned to work a specific aspect of the event and are free to leave once the races are over.
Clean-Up Only: 10:00 am – 12:30 pm
Volunteers help take down signage, gather trash and recycling bins, pack up t-shirts and other main tent supplies and help load the van. Volunteers also accompany EPI staff back to EPI Offices (1650 South Ave.) to unload the van.
Volunteer Cancellation
Life happens – we understand. However, PLEASE contact Jill Johnson (310-995-6810) immediately if you are unable to volunteer. Thank you!
Rain or Shine
This event will run rain or shine! If we encounter thunder and lightning, race starts may be delayed if it looks like things will clear. If thunder and lightning remain in the area, then we will cancel the event.
Directions & Parking
We recommend putting the intersection of Douglas Rd. and Canfield Rd. into your GPS. Park along the side of the road near the main tent area.
Items to Bring
Water, snacks, sunblock, bug spray, weather applicable gear (umbrella, sweatshirt, jacket, ball cap, sunglasses, etc.), camp chair.
