The Chocolate Ball: A Sweet Tradition
In its 35th year, the Chocolate Ball is a highly anticipated annual event, usually held during the first weekend in February. The event raises funds for EPI’s epilepsy programs and services such as support groups, education, youth conferences and the only week-long overnight camp in New York State for kids with epilepsy. EPI annually serves more than 6,000 children and adults with epilepsy and seizure disorders in the Finger Lakes, Central and Southern Tier regions of New York State.
The highlight of the event is the chocolate cake competition. EPI invites local pastry chefs to create elaborate chocolate cakes inspired by that year’s theme. Six awards are presented, including the People’s Choice Award which is voted on after guests have had the opportunity to sample each cake.
We are very pleased to have partnered with The Commissary, a kitchen incubator in Sibley Square in downtown Rochester, for the filming of our event. The Commissary offers members the opportunity to take advantage of top-notch kitchen facilities as well as other services and support while the growing their new business. Considering the Chocolate Ball’s history of highlighting local talent through the annual chocolate cake competition, this was a natural partnership, and we are excited about this new relationship.
