Environmental Modifications/Assistive Technology
Environmental Modifications increases an individual’s independence in his or her own home through permanent physical adaptations. Examples of these modifications include wheelchair ramps, roll-in showers, handrail and widened doorways.
Assistive Technology devices allow for greater inclusion in the community with portable units designed to meet the accessibility needs of the individual. Examples of these devices include van lifts, stair gliders and adaptive beds.
EPI’s role in these adaptations is to work with the individual to develop a plan, find and coordinate the efforts of reputable contractors, and oversee the project ensuring satisfactory completion.
